Gary Harrison’s article, “John Clare’s Poetics of Acknowledgment,” has just appeared in the April 2012 issue of Romanticism [18.1 (2012): 41–54]. Early this spring, Gary published two essays in the Wiley-Blackwell Encyclopedia of Romantic Literature, edited by Frederick Burwick, Diane Long Hoeveler, and Nancy Moore Gosleee (2012). One of the essays situates John Clare’s natural history prose writings alongside the development of nature writing in the 18th and 19th centuries, and the other discusses Arthur Young’s contributions to the rise (and fall) of the agricultural tour essay as a subgenre flourishing between about 1760 and 1850 primarily in England, Ireland, and France.
